Hello... While I have always very much been a happy and satisfied skyview customer(and still am), I have to admit that Garmin has recently came out some pretty slick features that I am sure we have all seen by now.  Any chance we'll be seeing these features in Skyview?..

i.e.  ESP-X (Electronic Stability Protection), and Glide Range Ring, Best Airport Bearing Pointer

I understand if you guys cannot disclose future enhancements and what you are working on..  perhaps a WINK WINK would do.

I'm already enjoying the glide range ring and the best airport bearing, so I know I'd like those features in SkyView   [smiley=smiley.gif]

Because I fly a "touring motorglider", I have a soaring flight computer in addition to SkyView. It has a glide range ring like the Garmin, but also a more sophisticated version referred to as an "amoeba". That's line showing where the aircraft can glide to (with adjustable AGL arrival safety height), accounting for wind and terrain. It's a circle in the flat lands, but if there are mountains, it becomes very irregular, because it knows you can't glide through a mountain. It's the red line on the image, and you can see how it hugs the mountains.

It doesn't automatically select a "best airport", but it does show a course line to whatever airport is selected, and the data blocks at the top of the screen show the selected airport, direction and distance, and estimated arrival height above the "AGL safety arrival height" I've set.

When cruising in "airplane mode", I generally try to keep at least one suitable airport in gliding range. I don't always select it, but just make sure it's within the amoeba. I can enter waypoints for landing places that aren't part of the FAA database, like duster strips or dry lakes.

I feel much more comfortable when I have a place I can glide to; of course, it's much easier to achieve that in my Phoenix, with a 30:1 glider ratio.

I think this would be an AWESOME feature for the SkyView. Maybe have the option of having the "Amoeba" automatically appear if the RPM's dropped below a certain value while in flight.
