Sluggish oil pressure reading

When starting my Lycoming clone I notice I have to count to about 6 seconds before I see ANY oil pressure at all and another 5 seconds to rise above 15psi.

The readings settle down to normal (60psi) after a while but the engine manufacturer is concerned (as am I) that the oil pressure is taking this length of time to come up.

One thought was that there is a lot of damping in the pressure signal.

Is this normal or should the reading be immediate the sensor sees the oil pressure?

Thanks

There is some damping in that signal, but it's probably only a second at maximum before it's at 90% or so of the change. So if you go from 0 to 60, within 1 second we'll read 50+ PSI.

We don't have any damping as long as it sounds like you are seeing, so that's probably not coming from the EMS.
