Software crash (boot) with battery connected

Hi,
I've just installed my SV-D1000 with no problems other than this: When I switch the unit on (apply external power) with the backup battery connected, the unit crashes. I will supply a picture later when I'm back in my workshop.

When powered on with battery disconnected, all works fine - as does the system when the battery is connected after power-on (subsequent to this, the display continues to function from battery power after external power is disconnected).

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping that this is a problem which will go away when the backup battery is more charged?

cheers

Once it gets stuck, does pushing buttons 1/2/5 simultaneously successfully reboot it?

Unfortunately I can no longer replicate the problem. This makes me a little nervous! The problem was very clearly pre-boot, Immediate or very soon atfer power on, no 'Dynon Skyview' screen when the OS was loading.

How do you post images up on to the forum? Do I need to host them elsewhere and ref / src them from a post?

That's the easiest way (external free image host + link)

We've heard reports of your behavior, but haven't been able to replicate it here, even with the couple of units we've gotten back from the field. Any information, including that picture, that you could provide, would be helpful.

Or, you can email the photo as an attachment to support@dynonavionics.com.

Hello I have the same problem with my D1000 when I connect the backup battery i can see the backlight on and the screen black , I see the fans keep spinning (unlike the normal startup without the battery connected) after that nothing happens. I try your method of pushing sumultaneously 1/2/5 buttons and the unit restarts and do the same thing again( stay with backligt on but black screen and the fans keep spinning). When I disconect the battery the startup is normal.
I will send you some photo mabe even a video to support@dynonavionics.com

Thank you !

We have finally been able to recreate the problem of systems not booting with a backup battery at the office and have found the cause. The next software release will include a fix for this.

I will have my installation complete in a couple of weeks. If I fire it up before the update, should I leave the battery disconnected??

Try it with it connected first. If the display fails to boot properly, it doesn't affect the reliability or "break" the unit in anyway. Since the problem affects a very small percentage of displays, chances are this issue won't affect you. Sometimes, simply manually rebooting the unit by pressing buttons 1,2,5 simultaneously will fix the issue. If that doesn't, just disconnect the backup battery until 3.0 is out in a few weeks. Thanks for your patience!

FYI - Powered up mine in the plane for the first time last night. With the battery connected, it wouldnt boot as described by others. Disconnected battery, started up fine. Looking forward to the update!
