Space-Based ADSB - Diversity required?

After SpaceX launched a bunch of Aireon ADS-B payloads, there's been some chatter about the ADS-B mandate in Canada. Some of that said they might require antenna diversity so that the satellights could pick up your ADS-Out signal.

I think they are still in testing mode, so nothing for sure yet.

Got me wondering, is Dynon's -472 system even capable of driving two antennas? Can you just use a splitter? Or do you have to have two real outputs if they end up going that way?

We've been watching the satellite based ADS-B. The big concern is the antenna on top (satellite) and the bottom for ground based ADS-B. It's not a simple fix like a COAX splitter and doubles the cost of installing ADS-B. There have been some tests with regular ADS-B equipment with some good results.

What's wrong with putting your transponder antenna on top of the fuselage? Short of a relatively small cone directly below your aircraft, it will still have line of sight to any ground-based receivers...

Because RF wave propagation is so much more complicated than that. You can't even begin to answer the why on a forum like this so I won't even try. Just suffice that this idea isn't a very good option.

I'm in Edmonton, Ab. Also hearing chatter that this is starting to work, one local guy said he saw his first ads-b traffic on the dynon about a month ago.

My question is what are the requirements for working with the Aireon satellite system? I have the xsponder 261, not the 2020 gps, if upgrading my gps to 2020 and adding the 472 box will this make the system compatible with the aileron system?
