Starter Annunciator warning

Hi Folks,

I have wired my ACS A-510-2 starter switch to the VPX as prescribed PWR pin to jumper J10-1 and the starter annunciator with a 1K 1W resistor in line to pin J2-11
When checking in VPX configurator, I can see the starter on message in device status going to ON when cranking to the ignition position.

I found how to display the VPX starter ON/OFF widget in the engine page and the starter widget also shows ON (red) when cranking. All fine.
When I keep cranking for long time, I don't see any message appearing.

What I'm wondering is how I can see the "Starter Stuck" message on the dynon screen and if I need to configure something extra for that.
I didn't find any info on this in the manual and our friend chatgpt also didn't have a clue what he was talking about.

So my question is
- is any additional configuration required in VPX or Dynon to indicate the "Starter stuck" warning message ?
- can I test this now without an actual starter installed (I only have the starter solenoid so far) ?

thanks in advance,
Jurgen

If you connect the wire, with supplied resistor in line, from the starter motor side of the solenoid direct to VPX J2 pin 11 it will work. That’s all you need to do.

That's indeed what I did. Is there any way I can test it other then seeing the VX Starter widget showing "ON" if it keeps stuck

Problem with testing is that the 'warning' message will only come on when it actually is stuck on & the VPX sees more than 500 rpm - you could spend a bit of effort simulating that but not worth the effort IMO.
FWIW the VPX has not had a software update for at least ~12 years - that' a record many other manufacturers can't claim;)

thanks for clarifying the link with the 500 rpm on the engine. I hadn't thought of that and it makes sense, off course.
Will move on with building.

I was wondering how VPX knows the RPM data of the engine. Is this information transferred to the VPX over the EFIS serial line via the readings on the EMS module ?
