Hi,
Here are some recommendations for enhancements to the next release from a D10A user. FYI – the GPS data to my D10A is from a Garmin GPSMAP296. I also have a Garmin GNS430W with an old fashioned dedicated CDI in my panel.
At Arlington, Dan showed me how to cycle between the three different CDI scale’s (En Route, Terminal Area, or Approach) on the HSI view. (Thanks) After switching back to the EFIS view, there was no indication of the CDI scale in use.
EFIS view CDI Scale Recommendations:
* Add CDI scale indication to the EFIS page when the CDI is enabled.
* Make the selected CDI scale persistent through power cycles. (Power on with the same scale that was selected when the unit was last powered off.)
The altitude alert warning is nice, but could be significantly enhanced. If one’s climb/descent is in thousands of feet per minute the current warning may not be soon enough, if one’s climb/descent is in low hundreds of feet per minute (as mine frequently is), the warning may be “forgotten” before the target altitude is reached.
A warning that is selectable and time based for approaching the target altitude would be great. Selectable altitude range before target altitude would be an improvement, but (for me) not as nice as having “time to altitude” based warning.
Also, after reaching the target altitude a warning based on a smaller deviation than currently used would increase usefulness. If one is flying IFR, the current warning is too late to be helpful. My instructor expects +/-50 feet for IFR proficiency checks and indicates +/-100 feet is acceptable in actual conditions.
Altitude alert recommendations:
* Different selectable warnings range for approaching target altitude and for leaving target altitude.
* Make the selectable warning for approaching target altitude based on time or altitude to target.
Regards,
Roy
