Sun Glare Concerns

I did a search on Google and here and was surprised to discover this subject has not been previously discussed...

As shown in the attached picture, my panel and Skyview HDX is mounted at a 30 degree angle. There will be no lip or overhang from the boot cowl. So what can I do to reduce/lessen sun glare? My first thought is that there must be a screen cover like we see on iPads and laptops that can be applied. Is anyone using something like that?

I haven't had any problems with glare on my Dynon screens, their screen technology is nothing like an Ipad or computer screen which are horrible for glare.

DO NOT apply any "screen protectors" or film to your HDX or classic Skyview. There is usually a reason manufacturers ask you to remove the factory/shipping protector, and that is heat transfer.

I have no data to prove the screen trouble from one such event of a customer, but the correlation was not good. Some industrial screens have warnings about this. Dynon do not seem to say anything so in the absence of approval, don't do it.

So we actually did check into offering this ourselves, and for various reasons, but topped by a lack of strong demand, we didn't end up bringing it to market. That said, here's both the supplier and the specs that we were looking at. They'll sell in small quantities to individuals, and have a web interface that'll let you buy them.

Here is the config that would match what we liked best. We did test a variety of the other options, for what it's worth:

Film cut dimensions: 243 mm x 152 for SV-HDX1100 (or as you prefer)
Film type: Anti-Glare, MXT 50%
Corners Rounded first option

We didn't have concerns about heat transfer/insulation problems in this application.
