SV-EMS-220 Contacts? General Purpose Inputs?

In section 7-72 for my SV-EMS-220/221 EMS it talks about configuring contacts, in my case for a fuel pump ON/OFF and canopy OPEN/CLOSED light on the EFIS. Unfortunately I cannot figure what is meant by “general purpose inputs” in the manual.
  1. For the canopy switch, do I just connect one side to ground and the other to what pin on EMS?
  2. For fuel pump, what do I do there? Which pin do I use to see if the pump is running or not?
Sorry if I should understand this rewiring an EMS but I may be sitting on my brain today :)

Thanks for any insights and guidance,

Robert

See wiring example: https://www.dynonavionics.com/inclu...- WIRING DIAGRAM TYPICAL HDX DUAL DISPLAY.pdf

See sensor definition guide: https://wiki.dynonavionics.com/Making_your_own_sensor_definitions

You can connect your canopy switch between ground and to any General Purpose input or Enhanced General Purpose Input. Program it in the sensor configuration file with a pullup. Your canopy switch should use gold (plated) contacts and the pullup can be 10K or 1K. If it has silver contacts, use the 200 ohm pullup.

For the fuel pump, connect it directly to an Enhanced General Purpose input and configure it without a pullup.
Note: although all of the sensor inputs read 0 to 5 volts, it's OK to connect a 12 volt signal (fuel pump switch). Internal voltage clamps will protect the input, but draw a bit of current from the input as a result. Make sure you turn OFF any pullups!
