I'm going to use the Vertical Power new PPS systems which has two amp shunt outputs representing Alt Current and Bat Current both providing 1mv = 1A output. However the SV-EMS-220 only has input for 1 amp shunt. Is there a way to configure it to accept another amp shunt input?

I do not believe so, but in fairness, you really only want to display the current going in or out of the battery. What the alternator is doing is of less interest. You can access this data on the VPX page anyway if you wish. But as for it being always displayed, I would put that in the bundle of too much information that is not needed, but can be found if you actually did.

If that makes sense.

Alan, FWIW I use an amp shunt in the Alt B lead to show the output amps &, like DBRV10 says, just access the VPX menu to determine where an issue may be if I see any changes from the normal expected. As you know the VPX will show Alt output, amps IN to battery & bus amps current use all at the same time however that ‘page’ must be selected to see all that. Having a amps shunt as part of your EMS page means no need to access another page unless there is an anomaly from normal in your alternator output.

Thank you for responding. I get your point on too much information, I was looking to connect it as it is available and could give me an indication of Alternator trouble as with the Rotax style alternator and the PPS there is no alternator control from the VPX. Also My understanding is the VPX will display total current only. As there is only one input to the VPX not sure how it can determine where the current comes from alt or battery?

I've attached my wiring diagram, the PPS is in the top left corner. j1 Pins 18+19 give the alternator current out. it is this output im looking to display. I've already connected the Bat out the EMS.

A suggestion - why not just connect a shunt in the Alt output line ? as I mentioned earlier. That way you always see the essential basics of the volts/amps (as the volt sense from the bus is connected to EMS anyway as per EMS wiring) & if you want to explore more, just select the VPX page.
