SV-GPS-250 Not Detected

After power up today the GPS-250 was not detected. The system has work flawlessly for months and I have not changed the configuration. I seem to remember someone saying that they disconnected the SV-BAT-320 to correct weird behavior on start up. I have looked through the posts and did not see anything like this problem, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

If you jump into the serial port setup, you should see the RX counter going. If not, that may mean that the receiver isn't getting power (or one of the data wires is broken), or perhaps that it's failed.

I have seen one where the wiring appeared to be ok but was found to be damaged at the antenna end probably caused by 'rough' handling.

Thanks Jake, I'll look at the wires again after work. The RX counter is going up, and the map has started to draw twice while sitting on the ramp. I don't think it's a wire problem, but who knows.

It turned out to be a bad GPS. This was a surprise to me, I would have bet the farm on a bad serial port.  I am glad that I mounted the GPS in an accessible location.

If others have similar problems you may want to get them to 'wriggle' the wire very close to the antenna (I now use a 9 pin Dsub connector within 6" of it for ease of installation etc) while watching the counter - the wires weren't obviously damaged, on the one here, however the 'problem' could have been an internal connection/solder fault ?
