Hi,
I have a Camit 3300 engine with 40amp external alternator and I need to hookup a tach signal for my Dynon D180 engine harness. Camit offers a magnetic inductive tach pickup that works off the flywheel with 2 pulses per rev. Will that drive the Dynon tach input? If not , what will work? Can I take a signal off the CDI ignition coils?

If the magnetic inductive tach pickup generates a signal of at least 10V amplitude, yes, it will work with the RPM inputs of the FlightDEK-D180. If it does not provide at least 10V signal amplitude, the RPM inputs won't be able to detect the pulse.

Please see the FlightDEK-D180 Installation Manual for various options for monitoring RPM. If nothing else, you may have to install a tach generator which can output at least a signal of at least 10V amplitude.

That will work as per Camit instructions, I've just installed one & works as advertised, you'll just have to change the PPR in the 180 from 6 to 2 ;)
