Is there a way to find tracon frequencies using the Dynon Moving Map? Sure would be handy to have freqs shown referenced to position.

This is currently not possible in the SkyView system. It's on the wish list.

I would like to second the request for Tracon freqs. It's very high on my wish list. Thanks Dynon!

So, as a note, there are approach and departure frequencies listed for major airports in the airports com list. For example, KSEA, KLAX, KABQ all have a multitude of frequencies, and they each have a narriative that tells you what sector to use them in.

We don't show the "child" airports of these yet, where a underlying airport will list KSEA's approach/departure in its own list.

We don't actually know how to show TRACON frequencies by position, only via an airport lookup. If you know of any product that allows you to just take an aircraft position and show you the correct TRACON, we'd be interested to know so we can research it.

The other issue is ARTCC frequencies. These are on the list to put in SkyView as well, and these can be looked up by "nearest", but no other way. So which is the one that people are most interested in?

I'm interested in the ARTCC freq's, "Nearest" will handle most of the queries I have but finding them via moving map for another location would also be quite helpful.

80% of my lookups are for app/dep and center freqs for my current location to activate flight following after takeoff from a small field. Lookup via a nearby major or semi-major airport would be just fine for me.

In SkyView, if you move the cursor where you want and press NRST, it looks up the NRST list from the cursor location, not the plane location, so you will be able to find frequencies even in a different location.

So, as a follow up, the latest 6.2 database adds APPROACH and DEPARTURE frequencies for "underlying airports", with a full narrative of what directions to call what frequency on. This requires no software update.

Dynon's next software update will include ATC and FSS frequencies under the NEAREST function. Look for that coming real soon!

Nice progress and great info I never realized I could use.
I actually want the label for the freqs, on your screen there are the freqs but no label to identify it, In my example instead of ATIS and TWR I would like to see "LAX 125.50 APP" or "LAX 135.400 CTR", etc.
Problem with CTR, is unless I'm over LAS (which BTW there is a label for that APP) the airports in the desert dont have much more than ATIS and UNI(COM).

reidvaitor,
I'm not sure I 100% understand what you'd like to see. Can you try re-describing it? For example:

When I manually tune 123.450 when above KABC I expect to see KLAX 123.450 CTR on the top of SkyView

Or

I want to see KLAX APPROACH in the list for KABC, not just APPROACH

Also, if you know of any GPS units or apps that do what you want, that is helpful too. Of course, not everything is possible, we are limited by the data we have, so we aren't promising anything.

Thanks for your input!

Would that not be ZLA, instead of KLAX?

Los Angeles Center is *not* the same as something attached to KLAX (which would be "SoCal Approach", anyway, not "Los Angeles Approach").

E.g., I get handed off to Los Angeles Center somewhere over Palm Springs (eastbound), and around the Colorado River, handed to Albuquerque Center (ZAB, I think), a loooooong way from KABQ :)
