Having a D180 and a Becker ATC 4401 and the transponder isn't getting any altitude information from the D180. It previously did and I have checked all cables and wonder if I can in some way verify that the D180 generates the signal? Can I measure the signal with a voltmeter or oscilloscope? Next step is to verify the encoder function in some similar way? Thanks in advance!

Are you going serial direct to the 4401, or through the encoder converter? The serial output hardware on the D180 is very reliable, so doubtful it's stopped working.

But, first, have you checked that the settings on both end are still correct?

Hi and thanks for your prompt reply! We are going through the encoder converter.
We have now tested all four output standards, allthough it worked with 1 before, including resolution output but the transponder want 100ft res.
We can measure a square wave out from Dynon and it changes with the different output standards so maybe we can assume it's OK. How big chance that the encoder converter is the problem? We have opened it and checked all cables to the transponder contact and they are OK.
