We'd like to start a collaborative list of transponders that support the serial blind encoder output from the EFIS-D10A. If you have had sucess with a transponder, please list it here. If you know the settings needed on the EFIS and/or the transponder, please post those too.

I'll start:

We know the Garmin GTX 327 and 330 transponders work. You use the "Icarus" format on the transponder, and set the EFIS-D10A to use format 4 in the ALTENC menu. This system works at 100 or 10 foot resolution.

We expect that any transponder will work with a D10, since that uses grey code outputs. The D10A uses serial output, which is compatible with only newer transponders.

I don't think the 320 supports serial connections, so I don't think it will work with a D10A unless you purchase our adapter.

Stupid question I quess--but why use the Dynon with Transponder--does that mean you don't have to add a blind encoder?? and just hook up the Garmin 327. Thanks. lbb

Yes, in addition to all the other things it does, the EFIS is a blind encoder. Many of our customers are using the EFIS and its blind encoder functionality. This can save you a little bit of money and hassle. Simply connect it straight to your transponder!
