Does this unit use the SL30 protocol, Can it interface with the Skyview HDX using the SL30 protocol or the ARINC-429 ?,
i.e. without a dedicated CDI?
The installation manual includes this paragraph:
5.6.11 RS232 Input/Output The RS232 input allows certain third-party multi-function displays to preload the standby and active frequencies and to monitor the Nav/Com status. The radio understands the Apollo SL30 protocol ($PMRRC and $PMRRV) and the Garmin GNC protocol ($PGRMC and $PGRMV), both of which are based on NMEA at a speed of 9600 bps.
... but I'm not sure if that means it would interface with one of the Skyview's five serial ports... the word understands might imply that the unit can understand the HDX not that it sends NAV data to the Skyview...
