Let me say thanks, that you are giving us Blue Mountain guys a break, it is much appreciated an I'm sure that it will reap benefits for you in the long run.
Now to my question.  I'm sure it has been discussed here some place but I can't seem to find it. Will the Skyview system be compatible with the Trutrak A/P an EIS 4000. I have them installed in my 8 an they work fine, so I hate to change them out.   Thanks  Ron

While we will not break either of those systems, we won't read or send any unique information to them, so we can't display data from the EIS, nor can we send information to the TruTrak (partially because we haven't seen anything published that tells us how to).

We do sell less expensive versions of both the EIS and the TT. You will be able to swap out the EIS and keep all your sensors for our engine monitor module, and our autopilot system costs thousands less than TruTrak and our servos mount in the exact same way.

Ok, so primary role is feeding your onw AP, but do you provide ARINC data output? As some AP's can work with ARINC input and that would (in case of such an installation broad your customer base.

Is there a document describing the Skyviews data output, does it provide e.g. also NMEA 0183 output on a serial port so I can feed my ELT? Does that stream only include position data or also steering info?

Dynon does not output ARINC navigation data.

This is probably a conservative legal approach to the issue of navigation - because in order to be legal to fly IFR you must have an IFR certified piece of navigation equipment (and Dynon is not).  If you already have an IFR certified receiver with approach information, there is no legal advantage to having the EFIS output the same data.  There is, however, a legal risk to non-certified EFIS makers if pilots couple their non-certified AP to their non-certified EFIS which in turn flies the pilot into Cumulo Granite.

Dynon's AP will fly an approach information from any compatible IFR-approved receiver with it's included AP software.  

The same is true of external APs.

Until Dynon announces otherwise, that's what it is.

When we have a map in the product, we MAY output NMEA data and/or ARINC data. For now, there is no map, so there is nothing for us to output. If you need to hook an ELT to the system, you can split the GPS input to the screen and run it to your ELT as well (including our GPS puck if you go that way).

We will not be "lying" to an AP and giving it GPS steering commands in order to get it to fly a heading bug or VOR/ILS. We would act like a 430 does, correctly labeling ARINC data based on the source.

Thanks for the clarification, so what you tell is, hook up the IFR certified Garmin 430 ARINC output directly to the external AP. However that will not work with my SL-30 however should at the end with the Dynon AP if I got that right?

If you use a Dynon AP, we can fly the SL-30. If you use another AP, it's up to them to listen to the SL-30 and fly it.
