Two 7" screens or one 10" screen?

Hello

I am trying to decide between two 7" Skyview screens vs one 10" screen. My panel doesn't have room for two 10" scrrens. To help with this decision, I would like to see a 7" screen with a PFD only screen to see how large the numbers are. I would prefer the 7" screens but wish to be sure that I can read what is on the screen.

Best regards

Hello Alex I've installed dual 7'' system in a j430
The dual screen configeration allows a great deal versatility and flexibilty
but you are right to be concern about reading ability not so much the graphics but the supporting text need to be sharpened and increased in size. I guess this could be improved with future firmware upgrades

The showstopper question is redundancy. With two 7" screens (with EMS and AHAHRS backup) you can have full redundancy. With one 10" screen you have to think about what backup functions you need to use if the screen goes blank. This will depend on whether you are VFR or IFR, as well as your personal skills and stress tolerance.

I went with one of each. I plan on using the smaller one for eng info. Looking at the 7" screen makes me very happy I installed the larger one for my main. Redundancy, as someone already stated, is the other good reason.

I only had room for one and decided to go with the 10". I use my GPS495 as my backup instrument. The GPS495 worked well while I was calibrating my compass. I haven't tried landing with it.

I found that as good as it looks, I don't need a full screen PFD. For the most part I fly with a 50/50 (80/20 sometimes) PDF/EMS or 40/40/20 MAP/PFD/EMS. It's nice to have the instrument gauges in the scan rather then on a separate screen.

I believe the PDF instruments are the same size in the 40/50 and 100% screens - and bigger on the 10" screen then on the 7" screen even if you had a full screen 7" PDF.

i have the 10 as primary and 7 for engine. works and looks great. i think better to do it now while building rather adding later. There are so many options now maybe more than I need but it works well.
