Unit turns down after software upgrade

Before upgrading my D10A sofware I kept a back-up of the installed version (2.08) . I then upgraded the unit with the last software (version 2.12)  without any problem .  I then kept a back-up of the "settings" . Then  I tried to change the speed setting .I didn't know at this time that it was no longer possible via the PC link .

I reloaded the back-up version (2.08) .

Then seeing that it was no longer possible to modifie the speed setting via the PC link even with the previous version because , I think , of the new launcher , I tried to reload the unit with the version 2.12 . Unfortunately it seems that instead of choosing the programm software I clicked on the  data "settings" . :'(

After loading , the PC told me the loading was ok but the unit turned off and it is now impossible to turn it on again .The PC link is also unable to establish any connection to it . :'( :'(

I guess that the unit has now the software 2.08 wtih the "settings" of the 2.12 version...which seems to be uncompatible.

Do you have any solutions ?

Mine does something like this if it is connected to an external power source, and that source has not enough current capacity to power the unit.  If I disconnect the external power to force it to use the battery, it starts up properly.  Once it is running, I can dim the display to reduce the current used, then plug in the little AC-DC converter brick I use to power it when off the aircraft.

Thank you for this suggestion . I will try .But I think anyway that the problem comes from the wrong software loading because I had no problems of external power source during the loading and after it  ( the plane was on an external battery with full capacity ).

The fact that the D10 A is almost "on" makes me think that it could'be possible to connect it via the PC link ...

Hi Bertrand,

It sounds like you have a handle on what happened: your EFIS has firmware version 2.08 with the settings from your 2.12 settings backup. We will see if we can add some checking into the product support program to prevent this sort of cross-upload in the future.

You should know that in the latest firmware the airspeed tape settings are done in the SETUP menu on the EFIS itself. In fact, all settings, as well as compass calibration, can now be found in the EFIS SETUP menu. The only things the product support program is used for at the moment are uploading new firmware and checklists.

In your case, if you can get the EFIS to take a fresh upload of the 2.12 firmware, functionality should be restored. Since the EFIS reboots over and over again, this would take exact timing which may only be hit by luck, and maybe not at all. Essentially, you'd need to keep trying to upload until it either takes or you get tired of trying. If you can not get the firmware to upload, give us a call at 425-402-0553 and we can schedule a return to fix it here.

Thanks for your prompt response and the process you suggest . I will try it ( on Thursday). Shipping from France is not so enjoyable !

Afer several tries the unit refuses to accept any connection . I have the message "impossible to connect to chips #4".

Does the unit need to be open in order to be repaired or can it be done by connecting it to an appropriate system . If it's the case  I was wondering wether it could be repaired by connection thru the Internet (with with my PC as a "slave" machine )?

Best regards

Hi Bertrand,

From what you've described, that unit will need to come back here for repair. There is nothing you can do on your end to fix it.

I'll send you a private email with further information on how to send it back.

Many thanks for very prompt and "no charge" repair . My EFIS D10 A in now on board and works perfectly ( at least on ground) with now IAS in KM/H (the reason why I loaded the last soft version !!!) .

Morality : don't get confuse between software and parameters which have the same "extension" on PC !
