Do all Dynon devices update from the master serial connection when updating?  I'm pretty sure the AP74 and the servos will, but will the D-120 also update from the master or will I have to update it on it's own?

Thanks

Only the AP74 and servos update over DSAB. Other units need their own serial connections.

Many of us installed rotary switches, leaving only a single serial plug to connect to. Thus, a dual-pole 6 position rotary switch can manage 6 separate serial connections on a single switch.

With a D180 and HS34, you end up with 3 connections used:
- Program D180
- Program HS34
- Download EMS data

What is the difference in connections for downloading EMS data versus updating EMS firmware? I didn't catch that so far.

Different serial lines for each function. On the D-180, pins 9/10/22 on the Female 25 pin connector are for software updates (load new firmware into the machine) while pins 30/11/12 are for dumping the engine data log out of the D180 onto your computer for analysis.

If you use an HS34, none of these pins are used for anything else on the D-180 (because all serial lines are fed directly into the HS34, and their info is then passed along to the D180 via the DSAB lines).

This does not appear to be the case for the D-120. There are two RS232 Rx pins, but only one Tx pin (plus grounds of course). All of the text in the manuals also inply the same port that is used for update is used for data log transfer.
