Updating next gen EFIS

How will updates be accomplished in the new EFIS? Front mounted SD card or USB stick? Or will I need a cable dangling from the rear to plug into a laptop?

USB stick. Though, to minimize bezel dimensions, the port will not be on the screen itself. You will not need a laptop in the plane, and you can plug in a USB extension and mount it on the panel or somewhere else in the plane if you wish.

We won't operate off that device like many of the front mounted units do, so the stick will only be plugged in during updates or datalog downloads.

Not that it matters but my preference would be for a front loading SD card. That way I dont have to fish around under/behind the unit/panel.

Again, we don't expect you to dig around the back of the unit to update it. If you have panel space, then mount the USB jack on your panel.
