Upgrading to the SkyView

I'm an RV-12 builder and am building it as an E-AB.
I have not ordered my avionics package yet and I would like to upgrade the panel to include the SkyView. I also was considering adding a Garmin GNS 400W to my panel.
Questions:
Will your plans for the SkyView eliminate the need for the 400W?
Will the 7" Skyview fit in the panel with some slight modifications, or do I need to cut a new one?
What about the wiring harness and interfacing?
What would I order from Vans?
Would I order the Skyview from you directly?

Thanks, Tom

Tom,
Eventually the SkyView will do a full map, and probably more than the 400. But it will never be certified, so if you need a 400W in order to do legal enroute or approaches, then the SkyView won't help there. It is a legal display of information from the 400 though.

The 7" SkyView is a bit larger than the 7" D100/D180 products. I can't tell you how you will need to modify the 12's panel to make this fit. The SkyView bolts direct to the panel with no tray.

The wiring is all different than the current generation. You'll have to work this out yourself, since it won't plug right in to Van's premade wiring system.

You can order a SkyView system from us or any of our authorized dealers (Vans is one) starting on Dec 1st.
