I have a panel mounted USB port on my instrument panel.
For some time now, I have been experiencing intermittent failure of the port. When it happens I get a blank right hand screen when I try to to to the configuration screen where you go to "load files". The entire screen is blank. It's not like it normally is when the system simply hasn't read the USB drive yet, where everything else is visible, and "load files" is there, but just grayed out. There is nothing displayed. The entire screen is blank.
When this happens, I have had to dismount the HDX and insert the USB drive directly in the other port on the back of the HDX. And sometimes that does not work. Initially I suspected I had installed a poor quality USB port so I purchased your (Dynon) USB panel extension cable, but when plugged into the upper USB port on the rear of the HDX, I was experiencing the problem with that one as well.
So now I am suspecting that it is the upper port on the back of the HDX that is not working properly. Can I diagnose this myself to determine if this is thecprobkem? If it is, can this be repaired/replaced? Can I do this myself (if you sent me the new part), or would the entire panel need to be returned to your shop for repair?
