Hello

I want to install my D180. I have a rotax 912 s from year 2001. There is now analog (winther)instrument that’s show oiltemp, cht, oil pressure and fuel level.
Can I simply route the wiring from those instruments to the Flightdek cables I order from Dynon?
Then I can have the old analog instrument in backup. Or do I have to cut out the analog instruments and wire them directly to EMS 37 pin ?
Is it ok to place the magnet compass in the tail. Is no magnetic interference there but its about one meter behind wing axe.
I have a backup battery in my flightdek. Do I need to use the ceep alive wiring then. Will the backup battery give live to the clock?
Why is there so many ground cable? Isn’t one enough?
Can I use a ordinary OAT instrument and just cut the wire and use the OAT prob and wire and connect them to the DB37 connector?

Well, you can't hook up both sets of instruments to the single set of sensors simultaneously, but we do support the oil temp, CHT, and oil pressure sensors that come on the Rotax engines. So you should be able to use the sensors you already have if they're the ones that came on the motor. In other words, you'd need to route the sensor wires exclusively to the FlightDEK-D180.

Multiple ground wires are provided for the different sensors that need them. They're all electrically the same of course. You could just use a single ground wire and splice everything that needs a ground back to it.

If you have the internal battery, the keep alive wire only serves to charge the internal battery when master power is off. Some people do not like the idea of a device drawing power in this circumstance, and leave the keep alive connection off. It's up to you.

The OAT you use needs to be the one we manufacture and sell. We also support GRT's OAT probe for legacy installations.
