User Data Logs ... too many files

We use Savvy Analysis to monitor our engine health. Lately our Dynon SV is generating a huge number of files for each flight. Today for example a 30 minute flight created over 30 different files, many are extremely small. We are working around this by downloading just the largest file but it's still annoying. Can this be corrected? Thanks

This was reported in a previous thread, and was semi-blown off as a known long-standing problem.

The Savvy problem becomes minor compared to looking at these files in an Excel spreadsheet - a real nightmare.

I download and track all my flights - this has become an increasing problem and impediment.  I am even experiencing my Black Box files sub-dividing into multiples - this is only a 15 minute file.

A great feature is being emasculated.

SavvyAnalysis accepts a ZIP file with multiple log files. This also reduces upload times. Not a fix for the problem but an acceptable workaround...

This is on our to-fix list. Hopefully for the next software release, but it's a tricky one for us to figure out, so no promises.

Bob,
We did not mean to blow you off, we were just trying to indicate that it was not an issue with the 7.0 release which is when you first noticed and reported it. It's been on our to-do list for a while, and doesn't affect every user so it has been hard to find out what is causing it.

You can use the "contat" program from the link below to join all your files before you open them in Excel as a workaround. You'll have multiple header rows, but you can filter those out pretty easily. I use this for datalogs in my car that get broken up for various reasons but I want to graph them all together:

My Data Downloads have been steadily spinning out of control.  They not only  sub-divide a single flight into multiple smaller segments, and very short throw-away files, but they now also spin off duplicates.

My last three flights have generated twenty-five (25) individual shown flights on Savvy!  I have file copies and screen shots if Tech Support wants them.

Maybe this report will help Dynon Support find the cause of the problem.

I flew twice today (0.8 and 0.2 totaling 1.0 hours) and SV generated four "black box" and fifteen (15, count 'em!) regular log files as shown in this Explorer window screen capture:

LogFiles.jpg

I uploaded all 15 of the regular log files to savvyanalysis.com and they produced chopped-up results.  My 0.8 hour flight was reported in four segments as if I made three intermediate stops.

Then I manually concatenated the files labeled "Part_03", _05, _07, _09, _11, _13, and _15 using a text editor to remove all except the first file's header and savvyanalysis.com produced the expected result: a 0.8 hour flight and a 0.2 hour flight, each with the correct origination and destination.

Five days earlier I flew a 1.1 and SV produced a single (correct) log file.  Go figure :)

Joe,

Because I have also experienced this, I have not been looking at the files much lately, but your post makes me curious.

Was it really just the even files you concatenated together?  And was this because those are "bigger"?

Thanks,

Tom,

Yes, just the "even" files (exactly as outlined above).

And no, not because they were "bigger"; the other files contained no useful log information.

Mine does the same thing. A bunch of files, and every other one has no data. I've done the same thing as Joe to be able to look at one file. I'm importing them to excel.

Add me to the list with this issue. First 10 flights of User Data for my new plane were flawless, but Saturday my 1.1 hour flight yielded 9 separate files. Many were just header row with one row of data (usually the even numbered files). I was able to take a few minutes and copy the remaining contents into a single excel file. Hope this is not the norm going forward...

I have the same problem. It makes the downloaded data worthless.
