Can anyone tell me if the user waypoint export utility for google earth still works in 3.3? Or do I have to use the Dynon on screen software and export and edit it in excel? Or do both work? I'm setting up my way points for the OSH arrival procedures. Thanks

It should still work, but it's not "officially supported" anymore, which is to say, if it's broken now or breaks in the future, we probably won't restore that feature.

Thanks for the reply dynon. Reidviator, I am using AOPA's flight planner. What I'm doing is setting up all the check points once at Ripon & Fisk. Around the lakes and turns to final, etc. I like to see all the turns and check points, even though they are not part of the flight plan. I'll show you a screen show once done. I did it for Sun & Fun and it worked really well. It makes me feel comfortable going in there to know exactly where I am. I've been to Sun & Fun twice, but never to OSH.

I meant you could create the checkpoints right in AOPA. I decided that I would give this a try so I went to Google Earth got the Lat/Long of where I want to be (exactly) and put that info into a .CSV that dynon posted in another thread. I have imported that user point to my Dynon and added it to a flight plan, than exported the updated flight plan with the user point back to the stick. Took some time but I made the user point exactly in the middle of a runway to see how accurate it is, otherwise I use AOPA FP to set a point within a flight plan with different scenarios.
If you need help let me know!

AOPA Flight planner .gpx export or the Dynon export utility? I'll assume the export utility, but just making sure!
thx

Can someone tell me how to import a collection of user waypoints into Skyview using a Mac without doing each one individually? .CSV files seem to be PC only territory. Thanks.

CSV's are just text files, with commas. We chose CSV specifically because it's a standard format that isn't tied to one program or operating system.

Excel or OpenOffice will deal with them fine. I'm sure there are lots of other tools too, maybe some Mac users can step in with their favorites.

This is a file I created from google maps for OSH, holds and waypoints for VFR approaches.  I think you will need to export your waypoints first then combine them to these and re-import to get them all in the Dynon.  I used excel to create the file.   YOU MUST REPLACE .txt with .csv ON THE END OF FILE NAME.  (this forum does not allow .csv uploads.)

Can anyone tell me what character code is accepted by SkyView in csv file with user waypoints in the field "Narrative text" to display the text in a new line? The standard CR/LF (#10/#13) are properly accepted just after import of a csv file, but are erased (ignored) after the first turn off/on of SkyView.

I believe formattting like carriage returns and line feeds are stripped out by design to condense the text. Other than that, it's basic US ASCII text. Not many characters other than the keyboard characters are supported, either.
