Dynon, would you consider changing the timestamp used in screenshots' filenames to UTC instead of whatever offset for local has been applied?

Thanks,
Joe

Maybe they can do that when they *fix the incorrect date in the logfiles*?

What is annoying to me is image is apparently saved with the image data using the UTC time instead of my local time, which becomes the file date in my computer. So, when the screenshots are sorted on time in my photo organizer on my home computer, they are (currently) 8 hours later than the photos I took during the flight.

My screenshots have the UTC time in the image, so I could change the file date to match local time as a work-around, and you can change the file name to match the UTC in the screenshot.

Joe:

Apologies for overlooking this on your first request.

Could you give us a bit of background on what problem this would fix, if implemented? We can guess, but it's better to hear the explanation directly from the customer perspective.

Bump, back on topic:

I get names like this

screenshot-20141122-115538-110

Which I assume is Nov 22, 2014 at 11:55:38 (local? UTC?).

I have no idea what the 3 digits at the end are, though :)

I like the way the naming is now. File name -> local time. If filename were UTC, it would be more confusing to me, and i would have to do mental math to figure things out.

When (en route) flying across a timezone line, I change the offset for my new local time and my landing destination.  Of course, this changes the labeling and order of my screenshots.  I'd prefer to have them in chronological order for straightforward sorting, filing, etc.

I'd also like to correlate them with my UTC logs on SavvyAnalysis.com.

I could probably think up another reason or two but would enjoy hearing your guesses :)

Thanks,
Joe

Fair enough - thanks for the explanation. That makes sense and that's a circumstance we had not considered for folks like you that like to have thorough documentation of your system operation for your records. We will submit the request, but as usual, we (Dynon Support) can't offer any promises if, and if yes, when, it will be implemented.
