Hi, My name is Don howard. I just received my EFIS, OAT probe, and remote compass box. I thought that I was ordering a complete system, but it appears the I left some things out. Please tell me what else I need to set up for a bench check before installation. In reading the instructions it seems that I omitted to purchase connectors, wiring, software for calibrating, wiring diagram for the compass to the EFIS. Are these available?

To be honest, I thought that I would get a unit that has two wires sticking out of it...one positive, on enegative...and some static line hose connections.

Help! I need more hardware and software to get this thing going, but I don't know enough about the system to get it up and running.

Re: What do I need to purchase to make the EFIS-D1

Don,
We're sorry that you were not aware that you need to make or buy a wiring harness for the EFIS. We supply all the info you need to make your own harness, or you can buy a harness from us for $90. The wiring harness includes power wires, about 20' of cable to run out to the EDC, connector and pin tool for the EDC, wires for the transponder encoder, and a cable to connect to a PC for software updates and calibrations.

In your box you should have recieved a EFIS D-10A installation guide. In this guide is a full description of how to wire up the EFIS, including EFIS to EDC wiring. It is possible to run an EFIS with just power and ground. However, when adding an EDC and OAT the wiring requirments obviously increase. If you want to power the EFIS up in your house, just put 10-30V on pin 1 and ground pin 3 and it will start right up. You don't need to have the EDC or OAT hooked up.

The software for calibration and setup is availible for free on our website. Please go to the following link to download the programs you will need: http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/EFIS_D10A_downloads.html

Please be aware that you won't do any calibration until the unit is in the aircraft, although you can do the airspeed colors and checklists if you wish.
