I have an SL30 hooked to a D100.  I have the D100 serial once connection set as follows
Input: SL30
Output: SL30 CMD
Baud rate: 9600

I have the SL30 set as follow
SL30:Indicator Head Type: Serial

I had both the active and standby frequencies tuned to active VOR frequencies. Attached is a photo of what is displayed during flight.  Any suggestions on what is going on?

Not sure what you are asking about. Everything looks fine in the picture.

However, your head type should be set to NONE, not SERIAL or you will have some weird behaviors.

I will change the head type.  thank you.  But, that is a picture while I was flying.  Shouldn't my HSI look like the one below (without the DME and xwind info)?  The yellow and orange arrows (and subsequently no info where the dashed lines are shown in my photo) never appeared on my screen during my flight.

You have not selected what sources you want for your bearing pointers. They do not just appear automatically as many people wouldn't want to see them all the time.

Do you have an HS34?

I do have an HS34. I have been using the "nav source" button which places yellow and orange boxes on the dashes. that has not made the bearing pointers appear.

I will go into the D100 NAVSRC using the soft keys to see if I get a different result.

You must press "BRG SRC" and then turn the value knob to turn on the bearing pointers.
