What Is The Best iPad App For SV and GTN

I am getting close to flying with my new dual SV-1000 and GTN-650. I also have an iPad. We talked about this subject about a year ago and a year is like 7 dog year in technology so I was wondering what iPad app I should get.

I have used Foreflight with the WIFI connection to the Skyview when the airplane had a single SV-1000 and some old Apollo boat anchors and I was very impressed with the easy setup and the cool "send to SV" button and I might renew my subscription to Foreflight unless there is some better solutions out there.

Integrating via bluetooth to the GTN would be interesting however the expensive Flightstream is a nonstarter so I assume that I will simply need to finger in the flight plans into the GTN (the YouTube videos seem to indicate that it is pretty easy) but that would sad because planning a flight at home and then zapping it into the SV is a really nice feature and I really liked the rubber banding on the iPad and then hitting send and then the airplane would change its course without touching the panel.

So for the pilots who are experienced with this equipment if you can please give me your suggestions on how I should spend whats left of my money on iPad apps I would be greatly appreciative!!!

To each his own, but I use Wingx Pro (VFR edition, 99¢) and ForeFlight Pro Plus USA (allows geo-referencing on airport diagrams).
IMO, Foreflight is better at graphical weather, planning, logbook, wt. and balance and documents. I also like the ability to send routing back and forth between iPad and Skyview displays. WingX will not do that with Skyview.

But I prefer actually flying and navigating with WingX. WingX also has a simulator, which is helpful to review (pre-fly) a cross country flight (set your speed to 1000 knots). And WingX also will display traffic patterns (base legs), right on the VFR sectional, as you fly along (either all airports or just destination only). Very handy for an unexpected divert.

Both apps are great. I use both to back up each other. If you have the equipment, both apps display ADS-B traffic and weather returns about the same.

JMTC . . . YMMV. :)

Good information

Does SV zap traffic and weather to the iPad or are you also running some other WIFI pp like DUAL or Bad Elf?

Presently, I am using a Dynon competitor (uAvionix Ping Buddy, via WI-FI) as a temporary ADS-B device, until Dynon releases their upgraded "472" product. Ping Buddy feeds my iPad traffic (incomplete) and weather data.

I wouldn't call uAvionics a competitor. You know that they are the oem on the 472?
