Wind component

I have the typical D100/D120 setup with the D10A and the OAT. The system is coupled to GPS (GNX375 and Aera 760) via the HS34 (both serial and Arinc429). For some reason the calculated wind component at altitude (as shown on the HSI) has never appeared to be correct either in magnitude or direction. Is there a calibration activity that I need to do to fix this?
Thanks

Other than pitot error, the most likely issue is a need to calibrate the D10A’s magnetice heading. This process is provided in the D10A install manual.

Did the calibration, the calculated magvar initial position numbers for my current location (Tulsa OK) were quite different from the existing numbers in the D100 but I have not touched those since I finished the plane in 2008 (in Salt Lake City). NESW setup was quick. Only question is I did not compensate for tailwheel attitude (RV-7) on the ground, I assume this is not a big issue?

Did you also do the in-flight calibration? Or just the ground calibration? In-flight will get you a much tighter correlation.

Just the ground calibration, the D100 with the EDC-10A does not have to perform the in-flight procedure according to the D10A manual

If both your altitude reading and wind component are wrong then your problem is more than likely in your static system. I had this exact problem when I first installed my SkyView system back in 2013. Not only did it affect my altitude and wind direction, it also affected my airspeed indication and my steam gauges. In my case the static port was in an area of low pressure which caused the error.

Check out the MAINTENANCE section of my webpage; www.puertoricoflyer.com. There you will see a "SKYVIEW TAS CALIBRATION" link which lets you download a .pdf file of how I fixed the problem.
