Hello Everyone, I'm new to forums in general so please let me know if i missed any pre requisite steps for reaching out.
I am about to start installing my new Advanced flight systems built SV-HDX 1100 panel components in a 2001 built RV8 (N208DC). Looking for advice from those that have already been there /done that with tried and true results. Before I start fabricating component mounting brackets and such I'd like to be sure there's not some already made parts out there to make this install as easy as possible. For example: fasttrack essentials component trays for remote components.

1. SV-MAG-236 mount in the Wing tip? and is there a Van's made or aftermarket part available? wing mount bracket? (D10A backup EFIS data already comes from a shelf in the tail).

2. GPS antenna location? fwd of Firewall Garmin WAAS antenna also?

3. Components to be located/stacked: SV-ADSB-472 ; SV COMM 760 ; SV xpndr; and a remote comm radio

Thanks in advance for any and all pictures or references to previous posts.

The RV-8 is one of the few aircraft that can take advantage of the Dynon Fast Track mounting system. There is plenty of non-obstructed space between the rear of the SV-HDX screen and the front baggage bulkhead. That is not true for other RV models. I used two Fastrack trays to mount two back up batteries, Transceiver, Transponder, EMS module and the SV-ADSB module. See picture below. Note that the backup battery in the picture was moved to the interior of the Fast Track tray prior to installation.

You can mount the SV-MAG-236 in the wing tip. Keep in mind that your OAT probe is connected to the SV-MAG-236.

The majority of RV-8 builders install the magnetometer in the aft section of the fuselage. You will need to fabricate a small shelf that spans the rear bulkhead where the static lines are installed. For the HDX magnetometer I fabricated an adjustable shelve so I could zero out the pitch during install.

The OAT probe was installed under the right horizontal stabilizer. This keeps it out of the sun, away from the exhaust and prop slipstream
and simplifies magnetometer connection.

I've used the rear turtle deck to install GPS antennas with good results. Some builders have installed GPS antennas on a shelf attached to the forward section of the firewall. However some GPS manufactures do not recommend this as portion of the sky is blocked, the cowl covers the GPS and the engine bay can get very hot.

Good luck with your project
