Wing X/ Foreflight / Garmin

Hi All,

I am looking for an app to use for flight planning and flight tracking while enroute. The ideal app would allow me to plan my flight at home (get weather/NOTAMS/file?etc) and then bring it to the airplane and zap it into the SV.

I have a Garmin GTN-650 and SV-1000.

I have used Foreflight and have the WIFI and have used the integration with the SV and was pretty happy with that...HOWEVER...I cannot get the SV flight plan to zap into the GTN...and...Foreflight is pricey.

Wing X offers a $20.00 per year subscription however as I have read in this forum, Wing X and Foreflight do not talk.

There is the Garmin app however it is unclear if it will integate with the GTN unless I buy their very expensive WIFI unit.

Annny suggestions?!?!?!

I've got a Skyview and 430W. I do what you want to do except you can't send flight plans from Foreflight to the 430 or 650. You need another piece of hardware to do that. It's a Garmin flight stream 210. It is a bluetooth device and lets you take a flight plan from the iPad to the Garmin navigators. It is on my wish list right now so I haven't actually used it yet.

The Garmin navigators don't accept flight plans from non-Garmin devices. The communications are encrypted and only they have the key. So no matter what path you want to take, if you want a flight plan to come from an external device into the GTN, you need the flight stream and either the Garmin Pilot app or Foreflight. End of story there.

Beyond that, are you asking if WingX can send a flight plan to SkyView?

Well... since I would need the Flight Stream to do what I want to do and since that is too pricey then I guess the question now does SV do any interaction with Wing X?

If not then Fore Flight is the answer.
