Do you recommend crimping the 4 wires to the GPS receiver to the like colored wires from the display?

Is there any reason why I can't power the GPS unit from two screens via a SPCO switch? I would like to have some redundancy for the GPS supply in event of shutting down/failure of one screen.

No need for a switch. The power outputs are redundant and isolated. Hook all 4 wires to both screens and either screen will power the GPS.

We don't have a total recommendation on how to hook the 4 wires together. Some people might want a connector there, some just will crimp, some will solder. Anything will work.
