I am replacing a PS1000 with the new Dynon ICS. My jacks are only wired for monoaural audio and I don't really have an interest in re-wiring for stereo. Should I just jumper the left and right audios together (pins 22/9 and 21/8) or just connect to the left or right audio only?

Another question is related to connecting to a Garmin radio. I am connecting the a GTN650, and the comm radio diagram states both high and lo audio outputs are to be 500 ohm. Will I be OK connecting directly to the Dynon ICS?

Thanks.

If you are sticking with mono jacks, we recommend wiring only the left audio to the jack (Pilot: pin 9, Copilot: pin 8). It is important to use the left channel to maintain the fail-safe connection between the pilot's headset and the radio when the intercom is powered off.

If you are using the music input, using only one channel can cause music to sound different since the left and right audio channels can have different signals on them. If you notice that and it bothers you, you may want to consider wiring for stereo.

The Dynon intercom is designed to be able to interface with standard audio devices, including radios. Directly connecting it to the GTN650 will not be a problem.
