Would the autopilot let the airspeed increase / decrease to max and min air speeds configured?

Hello

I have set the min and max airspeeds when I configured the Skyview system.

If I fly on A/P (simplified controls) and set the vertical climb speed at its maximum, would the autopilot actually let the aircraft decelerate to the min airspeed set (30% of VS1?) assuming I don't change the power setting and I come out of level flight. I assume it does.

But more importantly! If I set max descent speed would the A/P indeed allow the aircrafts' airspeed to increase up to 95% of Vne (the setting for max speed) e.g. past the manoeuvring speed? Or would it settle at a more sensible speed? And what would that be?

Hope this question makes sense?

Thanks!

From the SkyView Pilot's User Guide, Page 8-6:

"Airspeed High/Low Indicator
When the Autopilot is engaged, SkyView uses the indicator shown in the following figure to denote that the aircraft has reached its maximum or minimum airspeed limits as configured when the Autopilot was set up.

When either of these indications is displayed, the autopilot will not pull or push on the pitch axis in a way that would exceed these limits. Instead, the Autopilot will actively pitch the aircraft up or down to prevent exceeding the maximum airspeed or dropping below the minimum airspeed. This may prevent the Autopilot from reaching its programmed targets, and can even cause the Autopilot to maneuver contrary to its programmed targets in order to remain within the allowed airspeed limits."

I have noted that when I'm descending on AP, the SkyView gives me a "Airspeed High" warning and pitches the airplane up at about 10 MPH below Vne, as I have it set to the default of 95% of Vne.

However, you can set the AP high speed limit to whatever you want, e.g., Va, Vno, etc. See page 10-21 of the SkyView System Installation Guide:

"The maximum airspeed parameter cannot be set to a value above 95% of Vne, which should be set to the specifications of your aircraft in the Airspeed Limitations Menu (reference page 5-19 for more information) and is specified in the units set in the Measurement Units Menu (i.e., miles per hour, knots, or kilometers per hour; reference page 3-9 for more information regarding configuring the measurement units). As mentioned previously, the maximum value for this parameter is 95% of Vne. This is also the default value.

To set the maximum airspeed:

  1. Go to the Pitch Axis Maximum Airspeed Adjust Page (SETUP MENU > AUTOPILOT SETUP > PITCH AXIS > MAXIMUM AIRSPEED).
  2. Adjust the maximum airspeed.
  3. Press ACCEPT to save the value or press CANCEL to return to the Roll Axis Menu."
