I recently received DAR sign off on my RANS S-19 which is equipped with a D100/D120 panel. I purchased a Dynon 2 wire OAT and connected it to the Gp2 of the D120 EMS per the installation manual. The D100 OAT was configured as as “N” per the manual. During the final construction process the OAT closely agreed with the CHT and the ATIS. It disappeared from the display so I fixed that in the setup screen but it’s was showing 115’ F on a recent flight. Today on the ground it shows 307’ F. Any ideas?

BTW - the GP2 OAT type setting was set to 1 which conforms to a 2 wire OAT.

A quick test - does it react when you warm it? (grab with hand, use a heat gun, etc)

Also, any chance your OAT is in the exhaust stream?

Those are the most likely options. Beyond that, may be the probe or wiring to it if it used to work.

There is a heading display on the lower right corner of my D100 which I mistook for the temperature. I installed the autopilot yesterday and noticed what I thought was a temperature display change as I rotated the heading knob. “My. Bad” as the kids here in the US say. Sorry for the confusion. Can you point me to an entry in the manuals that describe how to turn on the display and where it appears. Again I connected the OAT sensor to the GP2 on my D120.

From memory, and I suggest you check the manuals but there is a menu item called INFO and you get to choose left or right. I normally set them up with the OAT/TAS/DA on the left and the VS on the right.

Thanks David, It was too windy to fly yesterday so I worked on the problem in the hanger. I saw the info item on the menu. I’ll work it today. When I first installed it the OA tea was displayed and showing the correct temperature. I think it’s getting the correct temperature also because I’m seeing a true airspeed that looks correct and I know that it needs the OA tea to calculate true airspeed. BTW - I went to a pilots lunch on Friday and there were a number of retired US Navy Air Force pilots attending that spent time in Australia late 60’s and 70’s. The point that came up is that you guys in Australia really know how to party👨‍✈️.

Thanks Dave, that worked. I haven’t had a chance to look at the manual yet but I wanna see how I missed that. Thanks again for the hint. I flew it today and tested the autopilot. Wow, that is nice.
