    OSH '25 news?

Had a chat w/ one of the reps. I asked that seeing as Dynon and TRIG are now one big happy family, has the likelihood of a Dynon branded NAVCOM that connects to the system via the network - vs serial port - increased? He actually made a note of it and said he'd mention it in their...

    Servos Offline

Several good thoughts expressed above. That said, IF you have the Dynon EMS as part of your system and you decide to investigate whether there has been a momentary complete system power interruption, you should know that system voltage is one of the many parameters available when the EMS's...

Skyview + Trig 56A + Avidyne IFD440 Nav Display Problems

My in depth knowledge of SkyView ~ IFD connectivity has faded just a bit since I built my system and harnesses, but I rechecked my IFD 540 harness build notes - and the Avidyne install manual says the harness pins are the same for the 440. Suggest you check that the following pin pairs between...

    AP Disconnect Switch

One other item of which to be aware: A very popular stick grip these days is the Infinity grip. They have several button positions on the grip and the button in each position can be specified to be either momentary on (turn off as soon as button is released) or flip-flop (switch from off to...

Unstable Reading from Capacitive Fuel Sensor in Right Tank – Calibration Issue

I have Princeton capacitive senders in my plane. Several years ago, after I did some upgrades that required among other things working deep in tight quarters in the aft portion of the plane, one of my fuel tanks began to constantly read full as well. After extensive trouble shooting I...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

Sorry, the pin numbers you cite sound like the leads for the Ray Allen trim motor, for which I'm clueless. My trim is via a surplus 24 volt Globe gear motor being run on 12 volts to slow it down. The attached pictures document which buttons on the stick connect to which wires. The #1 refers...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

I have Infinity stick grips in my airplane and had a similar relay board before I installed my AP panel which now serves that function. I agree that a relay board is a good idea for a permanent or even a semi permanent flying installation. That said, know that if all you want to accomplish is...

Electric trim: Request help to diagnose failure

You might try temporarily removing the AP panel from the circuit by simply wiring around it directly to the hat switches, one at a time. If the trim operates normally without the AP panel included, that pretty much narrows it down to either the panel itself or just maybe a pin problem. Good luck.

    ILS Approach

Take a look at the top line on the 550 screen where both the active mode is annunciated in green and the armed mode, if any, is annunciated to its right in cyan (blue). If the approach was properly loaded, it will start out with GPS in green and VLOC to its right in blue. There's a laundry...

    Skyview Wish List

Just saw the announcement that Dynon has acquired Trig. Perhaps now Dynon will finally offer some version of the Trig TX56 or TX57 NAV COM that will integrate with Skyview like the Dynon stand alone VHF com does via the network as opposed to serial port input. In a perfect world, the offering...

Whisky compass near SV Classic D1000?

As stated above, HITS = highway in the sky. It projects a series of boxes on your screen to fly thru as a method of course guidance. Mostly regarded as toy or crutch by highly experienced or professional aviators. I suspect it is included as a selling point to sway the, ummm, 'less...

    Skyview classic for IFR training

I've seen various articles speculating that when the new MOSAIC rules become effective that IFR training *in VFR conditions* will be legal using LSA aircraft. Whether they will or wont allow actual operations in IMC is unclear. If your Pipistrel has an IFR GPS navigator, be aware some brands -...

Whisky compass near SV Classic D1000?

Just to round out your understanding: The ADAHRS does indeed have a built in magnetometer. It also contains, among many other things, what amount to solid state gyros that serve several functions including that of an old school slaved directional gyro. If a particular installation finds it...

Whisky compass near SV Classic D1000?

An alternative perspective: If installed as you propose, consider it as a backup instrument only. If your screen dies in flight, there wouldn't be any field to affect it if you pulled the breaker for the now useless screen. Placard the compass correction card as being applicable only with...

Dynon have any plans for more powerful Com transceiver? Garmin kicking their butt.

While you can indeed often hear ATC talking to airplanes whose answers you do not hear, there are other reasons besides wattage that might be the situation. It is not uncommon for one ATC controller to be working multiple frequencies at once. He might simply be replying to a plane on a...
