Saw your reply last night before I placed the order. Thanks for pointing that out. I have another month to sort things out.

    D3 Flush Mount

I was considering it for aesthetics. Wasn't even aware that some of the cables came out the sides. I was thinking of ordering it tonight as their Airventure sale ends today. I did look at the thread that you attached. I'm sure the concept that you had drawn up will work. I may try to design...

    D3 Flush Mount

Good point about the permanent mount, but if you're just using it as an emergency backup does that still matter? Maybe I'll just use the snap in surface mount that it comes with. I did call Dynon and they said that it came with an external antenna.

    D3 Flush Mount

Had a full Skyview system in an RV6. Am considering a D3 for my current plane (Commander 112) but would like to flush mount it in the panel if that would work. I know the D3 needs a GPS signal for airspeed and altitude and was wondering if anyone has tried mounting the D3 where the front of...

    GPS175 Power Pins

Thanks everyone for your help. One of the reasons i had asked was that one power pin bent and shorted to the shell. It was very hard getting out and the hole was damaged, and I wondered if I could just abandon that pin. I also sent the question in to Garmin and their answer was consistent...

    GPS175 Power Pins

I have a full Dynon system including Skyview HDX, Comm, Xponder, ADSB, AP, etc. I am installing a Garmin GPS175 using the Dynon ARINC module. My question is regarding the power connections on the GPS175. I think that the pin diagram on page 5-2 of the installation manual shows pins 21 and 42...

Skyview HDX Doesnt Recognize latest U.S. aviation and obstacle database file (May21-June17)

Well I updated my aviation and obstacle database today and might have discovered something. I have extended the two usb ports from the back of the HDX to the front of the panel. In one port I run with the Seattle Avionics airport and sectional databases on a tiny sandisk USB that stays plugged...

    Dynon HDX USB port specs

I found in the installation manual they are spec'd out as USB 2.0.

Skyview HDX Doesnt Recognize latest U.S. aviation and obstacle database file (May21-June17)

I originally was using the USB connector that is built in to the wiring harness of the Skyview, and it worked fine. Then I added a couple of extensions from the two USB ports on the back of the Skyview to two panel mounted ports. I cant guarantee that I've been successful updating the...

Skyview HDX Doesnt Recognize latest U.S. aviation and obstacle database file (May21-June17)

I tried the update again with a third USB stick and it worked. On the next update I'll try one of the first two that had worked in the past and then didn't. Thanks.

Skyview HDX Doesnt Recognize latest U.S. aviation and obstacle database file (May21-June17)

I have been unable to update the aviation and obstacle databases. I have a full Dynon setup and have been very pleased with how everything installed and works, but when attempting to update the aviation and obstacle databases with the latest version (May 21-June 17, 2020), the HDX doesn't...

    PTT Wiring

Got it. I just wondered why Dynon provided a separate mic ground (pin 2 on the intercom connector) vs the primary ground (pin 1). I'll plan on grounding the PTT circuit locally near each of the sticks. Thanks.
