Yoke Mounted Autopilot Disconnect Switch Setups

I'd really like a yoke mounted one. Being an airline guy, it's always been on the yoke. I figure at the end of an approach I'd get super confused as to where it is!

Yoke Mounted Autopilot Disconnect Switch Setups

I don't plan to drill anything into the yoke. I'm going to try to design and 3D print custom clamps to hold the switches and housing on the upper left side of the yoke.

Is yours screwed to the yoke?

Yoke Mounted Autopilot Disconnect Switch Setups

It seems that Otto switches are really popular.

Yoke Mounted Autopilot Disconnect Switch Setups

I'm just about to have my autopilot installed in my 1965 Cessna 182H and was wondering what people have for yoke-mounted disconnect switches. What switch are you using (where did you get it, what type) and how is it mounted on your yoke? Pictures would be great too! I'd like to 3D print some...

    Tachometer Drive: Cap or Removal?

Awesome, thanks! That's probably what we'll do.

    Tachometer Drive: Cap or Removal?

What do folks do with the unused tachometer drive after installing the magneto-driven tach for the Dynon? Is there a cap that can be placed on it? Do you remove it completely and put in a plate or something to cover the hole (although that would be tough without removing the engine)?

    True, I mentioned this above.

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

By Dynon EFIS, do you mean the EFIS-D10A? I talked with Dynon today and they don't have anything that controls the tailBeaconX but I only specifically asked about the HDX.

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

***UPDATE*** It is my understanding that the AV-20-E is experimental only and is the only 2" display that can control the tailBeaconX. The AV-20-S is the certified version but does not control the tailBeaconX. The certified AV-30-C (3" display) does control it. Also, I talked to Dynon today...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

I'm using Dynon's ADSB In (SV-ADSB-472). Now that I think about, I wonder if that will work. Does the HDX need the Out from the Dynon transponder to make the In work or can I use any brand Out transponder?

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

So, in a fortunate turn of events since I wrote the original post for this thread last year, my avionics installer forgot to buy me the Dynon transponder for my panel upgrade. Now I'll be able to get the tailBeaconX, which has been out since April. It's a great product and currently the best and...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

It appears that we still have a lot of time as long as you don't fly above 12,500' in Canada. They'll phase in the requirement for C, D, and E after 2026. Hopefully Dynon is working on something. Honestly, it is a better system than what we have here in the US and most other countries will be...

Well, dang it! At least we have until 2026.

Rhino, that article says you'll need both an upper and lower antenna. It would be great if that's all that's needed.
