SV-AP-PANEL Trim With 7-amp Brushed DC Motor

The trim outputs of the autopilot panel are just two wires for each axis and the states are either OFF, +/- or -/+ depending on which way you're driving the servo. The motor is driven in one direction or the other depending on the polarity of the pulses. If you want to preserve the PWM trim...

    Autopilot Integration with HDX

Hmmm... I may be wrong. It looks like the 3100 doesn't have it's own gyros. It depends on attitude and air data (airspeed, vertical speed, altitude, etc) from an EFIS or an HSI and it probably hasn't been STC'd with Dynon. If your avionics shop says they can't install it, it might be the STC...

    Autopilot Integration with HDX

What are you using for an IFR navigator? Assuming you have one, you could probably connect an autopilot to that. If that navigator is also integrated with the HDX, the flight plan you put in the navigator should show up in the HDX. No Garmin, means Avidyne?

Does anyone have an X-Plane simulator for SkyView HDX?

Starting my IFR training and even though I can't use the hours toward the rating, having a simulator at home would get me familiar with approaches at different airports. The gas prices are better too. Everything I've found seems to be steam gauges or Garmin. I'd love to find an HDX simulator...

What can be done/is visible on a HDX with an SV-Com, Trig-Com, Garmin-Com

Trig has a new Nav/Com (TX56) that uses the same serial protocols as the SL30. Too bad they didn't announce a headless version. I can't imagine that's far in the future though. I know you can push standby frequencies to the SL30 Com and flip them. Does that work for the Nav section too? Too bad

    HDX Audio Out

Left engine alerts on the left channel. Right engine alerts on the right channel. o_O If you wanted to preserve the Left-Right as separate channels, I suppose you could connect the Dynon alerts to the entertainment inputs of the PS Engineering panel. They would get muted if there was comm radio...

An update on Dynon Certified projects

I’ve seen some servos who’s mounting and dimensions are exactly the same or very close to Dynon’s servos. I wonder if a Bendix-King autopilot is installed, if the move to a Dynon autopilot, once it’s STCd from that point is a swap out on the same brackets and control surface linkage? I suppose...

Own Ship Called Out As Traffic...and..."No ADS-B-GPS Lost"

I don’t think the older GPS will meet the refresh rate spec for the 2020 AFS-B mandate. The solution was to use an output from an IFR navigator. That saved some money over buying a new Dynon GPS.

Own Ship Called Out As Traffic...and..."No ADS-B-GPS Lost"

The advantage of the Dynon GPS is that when the ships power dies completely, you’ll still know where you are and where you’re going for another 40 min or so because it’s powered by the SV battery. You could use the Garmin for a position source for the Dynon, but then you loose all your Nav...

Audio Level Issue after upgrading to v16.3.2

I guess I assume that you're connecting the Dynon audio outputs to the "Ext Audio" input to the ATR833. If I'm reading the spec on the ATR833 correctly, it has a maximum input level of 1Vrms (about 2.8Vpeak-to-peak). The Dynon maximum output from a SkyView is 10Vpeak-to-peak. I would think...

    Dynon Video Adaptor

There is a USB video device class (UVC) spec. I don't know what the underlying OS is for SkyMap. If i was developing something like SkyMap I'd use an embedded OS that was already FAA certified. Webcams are pretty standard fare for almost all embedded OS's. There are ways to make it hard for...

Dynon Certified December 2021 Program Update

There will shortly be a new person heading the Aircraft Certification branch at the FAA. Let’s hope it makes a positive difference.

Dynon Certified December 2021 Program Update

I understand it, TruTrak/Bendix is having the same sort of trouble Dynon is. Also, it’s interesting that most of the certificated STC work for Trio is being done by a 3rd party consulting group (The STC Group) and they aren’t having brilliant success either. I’d love to have a 10 min...

Dynon Certified December 2021 Program Update

Well, brand G is one of them. The other is S-Tec, but they haven’t had a really new product since the 1970’s, so they really aren’t having to deal with the FAA to much.

WTB: Serial to Grey code Encoder Converter

It has push button code input, which is more reliable and easier to input a new code. It has a VFR button! Timers too. It has serial altitude input. The serial to Gray Code interface Dynon had is now marked "Discontinued". Can you really buy it now? If you can, that's the way for you to go...

    Autopilot Wiring Planning

Yes, you don't want the ADAHRS to loose power is ships power dies. The battery for the SkyView should power the ADAHRS or you will loose all your flight instruments.

WTB: Serial to Grey code Encoder Converter

If this is an experimental aircraft… The Arduino code to convert serial altimeter to Gray Code is probably trivial. I did a quick search and didn’t find a canned one though. Of course GTX327s are becoming cheap on eBay (some under $500). In the long run that might be less than the solution you...

    Capstan Travel?

Dynon will swap out servos if after you get one installed it turns out need one with a higher torque range. They might do a swap of one with an arm for one with a capstan too. I think the price is the same for arm or capstan. -Bill

Dynon Certified December 2021 Program Update

John, Even if Dynon has a manufacturing limit, which is a reasonable business decision to take, they seem like a company that cares about their customers and want to do their best for them. I don't get that impression from Brand G, which is why I refuse to do business with them. - Bill

Dynon Certified December 2021 Program Update

At some point one has to wonder if Dynon is trying to get things through the wrong ACO. I'm sure that Garmin is using the Wichita ACO which is the FAA branch in the midwest that is the "Small Airplane Directorite" for that region. There is no "Small Airplane Directorite" for Washington state, so...
