    12V On/Off Inputs

This circuit was designed to provide 5V on the input with a 15V signal. Typically, you'll see 12-14.5V, so this won't overload any of the SV inputs. It can be used with both normal and enhanced inputs, just check the voltages on the debug page with the switch open and closed and set the...

    EGT & CHT probe failures

I will make an important statement here: In my opinion, Jake is one if the most experienced Dynon users on the planet. You can pretty well take what he says at face value. In my case, I replace all of my TC connections with butt-splices from AMP (PIDG type). When the probes wear out, I just...

Using an iPad as a repeater screen for the HDX?

In my experience, Dynon does listen. I am sure they have an internal database of suggested features that they review and prioritize. The ADSB-472 device for example, was introduced to address the shortcomings of the ADSB-470. I recall lobbying hard for them to support ship-to-ship traffic...

Dynon 16.4 update corrupt email notification.

Got it! That's the utility doing it's job. Dynon is using a third party to send emails, and my system is rejecting it. I have no relationship with Constant Contact. About Constant Contact Constant Contact, Inc. (together with its subsidiaries, “Constant Contact”, “us” or “we”) offers its...

Dynon 16.4 update corrupt email notification.

FYI, the email I got from Dynon on 16.4 software throws up this message when clicking any link: uBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading...

Need to turn off Pull up Voltage on Pin 22 in EMS

The SkyView EMS Enhanced Inputs will work fine with this arrangement. Personally, I would use a 20K resistor connected to the Sensor if it is a 12V source, so that the voltage divider gives 4.75V with a 14.25 volt switched input. This is to prevent overdriving the EMS input. Dynon doesn't...

Using an iPad as a repeater screen for the HDX?

Something like this? These take the WiFi streaming data from SkyView and just need power.

Need to turn off Pull up Voltage on Pin 22 in EMS

Here's more detail on what I did (for the EMS inputs that have programmable pullups). The first diagram is a bit hard to read, but the 10K resistors are all connected to ground. With the internal pullups set to 10K, the voltage thresholds are as listed. By putting the shunt resistors nearest...

Need to turn off Pull up Voltage on Pin 22 in EMS

Some of the EMS inputs don’t allow the internal pullups to be disabled. In this case, for example, I use 20K series resistors with a 10K shunt resistor. Use the raw sensor data to determine the ON and OFF voltages and set the threshold in the middle. I used this technique to measure my fuel...

    Space based ADSB

Well, I got tired of waiting for a Dynon-made solution, so what does you average engineer do? Build one. Covered in other threads, but here it is again: This is the huVVer-AVI device, available now from store.makerplane.org, with a software App available from my site...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Here is a sneak preview of a video demonstrating the user interface of the huVVer-AVI TBX controller. Note that some of the significant features are not demonstrated, nor is the system settings page. It was created by my manufacturing/distribution partner MakerPlane: This also shows the 3"...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

The production TBX App is now available for the huVVer-AVI. This converts a stock huVVer-AVI into a tailBeaconX control head. The App and documentation is available here: www.huvver.tech/huvver-avi-tbx-app/ The huVVer-AVI device is available from MakerPlane. Currently it is preloaded with...

    HDX Audio Out

You can just wire for mono, but who knows what features Dynon may introduce that require stereo later on. For example, if Dynon introduces their version of the OnSpeed flight energy management system, stereo audio is an important requirement. In fact, one of the issues we've experienced with...

D1000 to GMA 340 volume deafening.

You really don't need the series resistor.... the output impedance of the SkyView allows you to put a terminating resistor to ground to knock the level down. I used 50 ohms, but YMMV. Nothing wrong with the voltage divider technique... it just costs $0.02 more. And here is a sneak preview...

    Power constraint for software updates

I have a circuit for ground powering the EFIS with an external power supply. It also allows charging of the backup battery. It is breaker protected and the relay prevents any backfeed. http://www.vx-aviation.com/sprocket/photos/panel_elec/schematics-2/AV.pdf

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Well, here is some good news. I have developed a tailBeacon/SkyBeacon control head that will talk to Dynon D1x or SkyView systems to obtain serial altitude information, add in transponder configuration and control the uAvionix devices. The control head is a HuVVer-AVI device from MakerPlane...

D1000 to GMA 340 volume deafening.

Use 50 ohm resistors on the audio lines to ground. And yes, it's written somewhere. This will also reduce any noise from the SV. Turn up the volume on the SV after you make this mod. VV

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Basically, don't take off or land anywhere in the civilized portion of Canada by 2026? And don't fly over the mountains. This is, in effect, a mandatory equipment upgrade, without the subsidies that Americans received with their cut-over to ADS-B.

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

For over $16,000, this is not a reasonable solution... and there is no software integration with Dynon. The uAvionix solutions are about the same cost as Dynon's existing transponders, but support space-based ADS-B out. The only thing missing is the SkyView integration. But as I have pointed...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

So, it's now official: Dynon (SkyView) has NO TRANSPONDER SOLUTION for Canadian aircraft under construction. I have been pestering them for years on this issue, and I did get a vague promise that they will have a solution. Now, it is clear that we (Canadian builders) will have to pursue a...
