    SkyView for Twin Engine AirCam

As another Defiant flyer, I agree with Harry. We'd really like to use our Dynons for monitoring the engines. The correct solution is for Dynon to allow two (2) SV-EMS-220s to communicate with the system. This shouldn't be too hard and of course your competition has been doing it for years and...

How accurate are the Skyview ADAHRS?

I just had my system checked by the local avionics shop and the technician seemed impressed by the accuracy of everything. I think he said that the altitude was only off by, at most, 10' up to 20,000' so you just can't ask for anything more than that.

    Weather

I'm using the SkyRadar ADS-B receiver now with an iPad and it is simply wonderful. During an 800 mile flight yesterday, I could easily pull up the weather (METAR and TAF) for any reporting airport on the display and I could see the live NexRad weather along the route. All wirelessly to my iPad...

    Skyview-to-Garmin GTX327

I just talked to an avionics shop about my Skyview / Garmin 327 setup and they said that they cannot certify this system for either IFR or even for the mandatory transponder check because the Skyview is not TSO'd. What is the reality of this situation? Do I really need a separate blind encoder...

    Wx Worx

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that weather is #1 on my list. I'm holding off on buying anything else (autopilot servos, navigation software, Arinc interface etc) until the weather interface is ready. I'm planning to install it all at once in my dual 7" setup.

    ADAHRS mounting

I was curious about exactly that question so I checked, and yes, there is a change in the indicated heading when you hold one of my "SS" screws near the ADAHRS. This was really surprising because they don't exhibit any other evidence of magnetism. Note too, that I was using several SS...

    ADAHRS mounting

As a follow up, I replaced all of the SS hardware on the ADAHRS with brass from the local hardware store and it calibrated on the first try! It was so nice to have accurate magnetic headings for the first time. I'm still not sure how or why the SS hardware was magnetic but it certainly was...

    ADAHRS mounting

Thanks to help from Mike at Dynon support, we figured out that the STAINLESS STEEL, #10 screws that I used to mount my ADAHRS were magnetic enough to throw the magnetic heading off by more than 30 degrees and prevent it from ever passing a compass calibration! And I had checked them before...

    direction/attidude/airspeed/altitude coupling???

Re: direction/attidude/airspeed/altitude coupling? Thanks, that helps a lot! I hadn't read the operations manual very carefully yet and clearly missed this point. My fears are relieved.

    direction/attidude/airspeed/altitude coupling???

Re: direction/attidude/airspeed/altitude coupling? Yes, that's exactly what I did but it sure was weird to see the compass swing all over the place when I sucked on the tube. I just can't envision how these parameters affect one another but I'll bet the Dynon Gurus can!

    direction/attidude/airspeed/altitude coupling???

I have my Skyview all hooked up and was just about to re-install the pitot tube and thought I'd confirm that I hadn't crossed the pitot and static lines so i VERY gently sucked (with my mouth) on the static line, expecting the altitude to rise. It did, but the compass veered off to one side...

    skyview update is out... v1.5

At the time of the backup, I had only the two ADAHRS attached; no engine modules and the other Skyview wasn't connected either. Note that I also used a different memory stick, not the one supplied with the unit, and that might have been part of the issue.

    skyview update is out... v1.5

I updated one of my units last night and it was all smooth as silk. I can see my airport and the nearby controlled airspace and it all looks great. The only surprise was that it took nearly an hour to make the backup file of the current configuration; no glitches, just a very long time. The...

    Mounting ADHARS

I took 1 step forward and 3 steps backward today. The area I had chosen for the ADAHRS didn't work out at all. With the plane headed 175 degrees, the ADAHRS indicated 230 and the only thing I can think might be affecting it is the magnetos in the rear engine (Defiant). So I decided to put it...

    Mounting ADHARS

I am in the process of mounting dual ADAHRS in my Defiant and it's going to be a challenge. For one thing, I don't have a "tail" in which to mount them so I tried other areas, including under the rear seats, behind the instrument panel, and in the luggage area. In each case, with the ADAHRS...
