No. As the software upgrade was what caused the unit to fail, Dynon replaced the defective module at no charge.

I didn't build my RV-6 but it does have the magnetometer mounted in the tail section as shown. Note the nylon mounting hardware. You are correct - mounting in this location keeps it away and clear from magnetic interference caused by antennas, other equipment, etc.

I agree the visual display is small, so I rely on the aural tone alert instead. Doing so allows me to keep my eyes looking out the window and not on the display.
