The MAP on your system is coming from a discrete sensor (not an ECU like on the iS motors). Red X will happen when the sensor either goes away (isn't working), or if it's dramatically exceed the valid output. So some possibilities: it could be wiring, that's tickled at some certain vibration...

The digital data - IE, the free data on our website - which paints the airports and airspaces and has the info that you can "look up" on SkyView are vector. The sectionals and plates are raster whether they come from Airmate or Seattle Avionics

NavCanada's licensing model isn't super-compatible with the volumes in our market is the short answer. We (and our data partners) are continuously trying to find a way to solve it, to no avail yet.

The material difference is that Airmate currently only has the FAA airport diagrams. They'll always be up to date. The Seattle Avionics subscriptions includes their digitized database of airport diagrams - something like an additional ~4,000, that covers most US airports (they're the former...

There aren't any field-fixes for issues like these, and for what it's worth, there are no button-batteries or other consumable parts in SkyView displays.

The digital data is essentially a vector-based chart, of course with limitations. Some of the extra "hand-drawn" mapping elements that exist on many of the other raster products (sectionals) aren't readily available in a vector/digital form, unfortunately.

The mag field values are actually only used during the calibration procedure itself. But the answer is still the same: once calibrated, you shouldn't need to calibrate again across geographic locations. As Rhino says though, if things don't look right, no harm in doing another one.

What I'd expect to happen is that SkyView's flight plan will instantly change. The autopilot might see that as a momentary disruption to the GPS flight plan, which may or may not cause it to fall down to TRK+ALT mode (if that happened, it would be annunciated both on-screen and via audio alerting)

Airguy is correct. It's not just the GPS that allows for the IFR operations; It's all the other certifications as well.
