    Erratic EMS voltage sensor

Well, I have identified and resolved the issue. I sent the alternator back to B&C, they checked it, and it bench-tested fine. The only issue they found was a weak diode in the bridge, but they said this could not cause my issue. They replaced it anyway, and sent it back to me, but the problem...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

Disassembled the DB37 connector to my EMS-220. Found that indeed, there was no wire attached to pin 2 on the connector. Had to add an additional wire to get the second voltage widget to work. Might I suggest that ALL pins on the DB37 on this wire harness be wired up. At a minimum, where there...

    12V On/Off Inputs

So, to clarify that I understand this, the contact pins on the EMS can operate in two modes: 1. Ground Mode - like for Canopy locked, or Gear/Flap position indicator). Where a general purpose "CONTACT" input pin to the EMS is connected to an on-off switch which is then connected to aircraft...

Add Fuel Tool not working correctly since update

Simple, temporary workaround, until the patch is released, is, after you decide how much fuel you want to add, calculate the total in your head and "add" that amount instead.

    EMS D 37 contact pins.

Just for clarity, to use a GP input as a contact sensor, I should wire it from the 12V aircraft power bus, to a microswitch, (like a canopy closed switch), and then to one of the EMS contact input pins?

    EMS D 37 contact pins.

Okay, got it... Then the voltage at the EMS wire will be aircraft bus voltage when the three microswitches are closed, but it will be zero V (connected to ground through the Warn light) when the any of the three switches are open... Thanks! Charly

    EMS D 37 contact pins.

Don, Thanks much for this... I was worried about the fact that my circuit is connected to the 12 volt bus. I would never have come up with the 10k resistor idea on my own. Now just to make sure we are on the same page, may I ask this.... If I connect things as I think you are suggesting...

    Add Fuel menu

Mine is as you describe Don, no fuel quantity sensors, only sight gages and fuel flow sensor. Workaround of just "adding" what I calculate new total should be will work for now, but was thinking about installing fuel level sensors. Do you recommend resistive or capacitance sensors?

    Add Fuel menu

Since the last version update, (it was 16.2.4), When I go to the add fuel menu, the current quantity always reads as 0.0, no matter how much fuel is indicated on the fuel remaining widget.

I already have a landing gear warning light system in my Long EZ, containing a microswitch on the nosegear, an airspeed switch and a microswitch on the throttle. It is set up so that the light comes on when airspeed is below 80KIAS, throttle is below 50%, and the nose gear is not fully extended...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

Didn't know about that document. And in the legend on page , it says that the X means an "unterminated wire". That certainly means I must be hooked up to pin 12. I need to check the wires coming out of the DB37 for another, shorter, unused, yellow wire.

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

When I installed my HDX and SV-EMS-220, I used the pre-built EMS DB-37 harness designed for Lycoming 4 cylindar carbureted engines. When I look at the pinout chart for this version of the harness on page 7-19 of the install doc, for pins, it says "no connection". Does that mean that pin2 is not...

HDX update 16.0.8 dtd 2 Dec 2021 failed. HDX display will not boot up any more.

Don, I uploaded 16.2 yesterday, and I got similar behavior. Partway through the load, the screen went black and nothing else happened. Eventually, I cycled the power, and the file load picked up where it was interrupted. Eventually, it finished, and the normal screen appeared. Do you want...

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

Is there any way to check the continuity of the yellow wire that should be connected to pin 2? The wire is definitely connected to the place I want to measure the voltage, (the P-lead of the alternator), but in the SV config screen, where you can monitor the RAW DATA for each pin, it shows...

remote NAV radio for SkyView HDX

Marc, Yes, although, (putting the legality aside for the moment), the logic is pretty compelling. To my original question, I think it is pretty clear that in addition to checking the ident before commencing an approach, we should monitor it, at a minimum, often enough to be sure the...

NO, I could not find an FAR reference for this either. I got this from post earlier in this thread.

Adding second voltage widget to HDX.

I think so. That's the screen that lists all the pins in sequence, and has columns FUNCTION, SENSOR, and NAME?, right? I configured it exactly like it shows on page 7-83 of the install doc, FUNCTION = VOLTS, SENSOR = VOLTAGE MEASURE, except I named it "ALT", not "MAIN". There was no SAVE button...
