    Airmate issues

I have had Airmate for the past several years with decent results. If you are downloading the entire map and plate library and not just the Nav, Obstacle data, then the USB key write speed is crucial. However, I just noticed that my updates stopped coming and when I checked, it says my...

    transponder update stuck at 99%...

I had the same thing happen to me today. Single screen. Got to 99% and stopped. Called Dynon support and left a message. They called me back within a few minutes and said that yes, sometimes this happens and go ahead and power down. Did that and on subsequent power up, transponder showed that it...

    121.5 one button tuning

Seriously? Has anyone heard of putting a transponder in STBY and maybe not using the PTT if you are going to “test” your emergency glide.

    121.5 one button tuning

I would have liked to have seen this in the Emergency Glide update, along with an automatic 7700 into the transponder. The CTAF is secondary to getting a Mayday or Pan out.

    Alternator / Battery?

Like mentioned above, it doesn't sound like your battery but I would suspect the voltage regulator. You mentioned it is an internal vs remote regulator. One thing to consider, they do not like heat. I had one go south and since putting a blast tube to the alternator cooling fans, have never had...

Dynon Transponders and ADS-B in Canada

Yup, same for me and I have done several performance reports, all stating well within limits. The constellation is the Iridium network which are low earth orbit and constantly moving above or below the horizon. I’m guessing the satellites are picking up the signal before they are overhead.

    Emergency glide test findings

I have to say, this isn't a feature I want or truly believe is going to save anyone. I would rather point the airplane to a suitable airport and trim for best glide rather than fart around with a system that may or may not give the desired results based on what it has been programmed to do. Not...

    High RPM withour engine running

Interesting. I have dual P-Mags and was getting the same issue from the right P-Mag only. Since Dynon allows being wired to both P-Mags, that is what I did. Then when I isolated it to only the right P-Mag, I disconnected that tach wire and the issue seemed to go away. Then one day, I powered up...

    Database provider disappointment

I tried Seattle Avionics and was able to update directly to my HDX using their slingshot feature but that required using their EFB program. It was super easy to update but I much prefer Foreflight for the EFB. I haven't used a windows product in almost 30 years and wasn't going to start now. I...

    Airmate Data transfer issues

FWIW, I have had the same issues with the data manager app on both the iMac and MacBook. For quite some time now, I have found it much simpler to just download directly to the USB. Never had any issues running the charts and maps on the Dynon.

    SV-XPNDR-262 Class 2 transponder

Yeah, you need the 26, as it has a higher power output and you would also need an approved GPS signal. Such as the Dynon SV-2020 (or equivalent ) vs the SV-250.

    RPM Pmags

Cool it? I don't see anyone getting upset. That's the issue with internet forums I guess. Yeah Setthrust, I don't read that as "you must only wire RPM to one PMag." but rather that you "need only wire to one" because the P-Mag will not stop putting out RPM data when you ground it or remove it...

    RPM Pmags

Yeah I can see the 3PPR, being a 6 cyl vs 4cyl. Which manual says you should only hook up one RPM source? E-Mag or Dynon? The reason I ask is because in the E-Mag manual that came with mine, Brad clearly states that RPM data is simply a "courtesy" feature. Since I also have the EngineBridge, I...

    ADS-B Canada May 16th deadline

Having a different hex code could certainly be the issue. Flight ID is what your transponder will send out, correlated to your HEX code. For example, at work I fly an aircraft that has a civil registration and a HEX Code but the ADS-B will send out a Flight ID of ACXXX with XXX being our flight...

    ADS-B Canada May 16th deadline

It looks like something hasn't been right since at least May 2nd. That's as far back as I can see. In the history of your registration, I am seeing hits in the Bahamas, Mexico and High Level AB all within 24hrs of each other. I notice that your Flight ID setting is "Unused". Try putting your...

    ADS-B Canada May 16th deadline

Nav Canada now has a web based interface, similar to the FAA for checking reception of your "Diversity" system. Just so you know, I have the Dynon Mode S, FAA 2020 compliant system just like yours and because the fuselage of the RV-4 has such a small profile, I figured I would do a test flight...

    RPM Pmags

I have dual P-Mags providing RPM information to my HDX on my RV-4. This is a 4 cyl Lycoming. The setting for RPM at the EMS is 2PPR, not 3 but again, that's for the 4 cyl. ( the default setting for the P-Mag is 2, based on the 114 model for 4 cylinder lycomings. ) You can have RPM data coming...

    Fuel tank calibration

In my experience, in any GA aircraft I have flown, the fuel gauges are very accurate in two positions. Full and empty. Everything in between is total fiction. The best fuel gauge is a fuel flow sensor backed up by a watch and regular fuel checks over waypoints on a fuel log, just to verify no leaks.

    Seattle Avionics vs Airmate

I feel your pain. I am a Mac user and have tried both SA and Airmate. The best experience I had with Seattle Avionics was to use their FlyQ EFB App and simply update the HDX wirelessly, using the slingshot feature in FlyQ. Could not be easier. I just found that for me, FlyQ was cumbersome as a...
