Vertical Nav on a Precision Approach

Once you have a glideslope available on the HSI, then the VNAV function is enabled and you can select it - prior to that the VNAV function is disabled (greyed out and unselectable) because it has nothing to follow. It will not follow a "step-down" without vertical guidance being received either...

    Fuel at destination

+1 for changing it to destination. I've been doing a work-around to accomplish the same goal, would be nice if it was directly calculated. Dynon - note here that nobody has asked for an ADDITIONAL line of data - we don't necessarily want or need both fuel at waypoint and fuel at destination...

Auto Pilot - Simplified or Advanced?

You can do that without the control panel as well. Using the Expert mode on the screen itself, once the AP is engaged and holding altitude, you can change the altitude bug and nothing happens until you select "Nose Up" or "Nose Down" as appropriate, then it will go to the newly selected altitude.

    Flight planning

I also find it useful sometimes to use my 430W to drive my HSI (and autopilot) and then decouple the map/HSI lock so that I can use my Skyview map function to plot a course to a different location, or see distance to a location, or other miscellaneous stuff. As noted though, this is a recipe for...

Automatic Pilot Roll Mode Upon Engaging Autopilot

I'll second this - I understand the logic behind holding the current roll attitude, but I would really like to have the ability to have a default roll attitude angle that, if exceeded then it is maintained, and if not then it commands to zero. "Level" function will drive the wings level but also...

    Transponder

Did it work prior to this? How long? Was a temporary problem or did it stay? Did you pull a Diagnostic file within 1 hour (panel time) of getting the message?

    Auto Pilot Adjustments

Huh, how 'bout that. I had noticed this same issue and just figured that was the way the autopilot was going to fly it, it does catch up after a while but certainly not quickly. I'll be happy to see an improvement in that behavior.

Seattle Avionics download issue - anyone else?

On the latest set of data from Seattle Avionics, on my system the VFR Sectional Charts for Mexico regions Sierra Madre Del Sur, Tehuantepec, and Yucatan will not recognize as legitimate files and it keeps trying to download them again every hour when the datamanager checks for updates. I've...

    Airspace proximity warning

I can see the utility of this, as long as it can be disabled or configured.

    Jeppesen & Skyview

Correct, the Skyview is not a certified IFR receiver, so it cannot command the autopilot to fly an IFR approach. You must use another certified IFR receiver (I use a Garmin 430W) that feeds it's data to the Skyview, and then the Skyview will command the autopilot to follow that certified-source...

    G-meter alert malfunction

Last night I pulled the datalogs (attached here) and the mystery only got a little thicker. The event in question occurred at 21:11:30 system time on 1-13-19 and lasted 11 seconds, with twelve "G" announcements before I reset the screen. The air was smoother than I initially thought, the datalog...

    G-meter alert malfunction

Yes, and it appeared normal, indicating some minor turbulence and fluctuating +/- 0.3 G from 1.0 during the continuous alerting.

    G-meter alert malfunction

Today while goofing off locally, I encountered a few minor jolts in the air from turbulence and got a "G's" alert from Skyview Classic. That's nothing unusual, it happens often - but this time the alert latched on and would not reset in smooth air. I was forced to power off and back on my...

Adding 180 deg turn mode to expert mode

I like the idea, but not the approach to the solution. I'm thinking more of a "HOLD" soft key under the autopilot (expert roll mode) with a separate drop down menu where you can select a particular point for the hold, select left or right turns, and an inbound heading and leg length.

    Skyview SE- fuel senders

Resistive are easier and faster to install and pretty much bulletproof. Capacitive are more accurate but can be "finicky" to set up correctly.

    Transponder sqawk code menu/shortcut?

In that case, screw the squawk and fly the airplane. That's ALWAYS priority number 1. Key the radio, declare an emergency, and let them adjust to what you do. That's the way it's supposed to work.

I need an external AOA display to sit on the dash

Exact same here - except that I might lower the "ignore the panel" height to maybe 200'. By that point I've got the approach stabilized and power is added or removed relative to the AOA aural tones. Usually I'm rounding out the flare just as it starts getting really excited and I use it to judge...

I need an external AOA display to sit on the dash

That's why there is an aural alert for the AOA in the headset. Do you have that connected? Calibrated?
