    Approach "Not recieving Transponder recycle..."

Gary - thank you for taking the time to provide such an excellent discourse on ground planes. In a former life as a vendor to Boeing and Airbus I was fortunate to have spent a bit of time with the engineering gurus and was able to absorb some valuable pieces of information. This post of yours...

Engine Monitor LRU - Mounting Location?

Hmmm, good points. I keep forgetting about the "other" stuff that EMS boxes do. For a purely "engine" box, mounting it forward of the firewall makes sense. The unit that was installed cost about $900 plus sensors, and in fact has a bluetooth option that allows for connectivity to the cockpit...

    Auto-Dimming?

Thanks for the quick response. I'll keep hoping that eventually we'll have access to cheap enough sensors to allow free-running heading performance equivalent to a DG. For those of us who would like to fly in the north we're left with a heavy reliance on GPS since the magnetic indication on...

Engine Monitor LRU - Mounting Location?

OK, in my last post I said I'd shut up but one more question has popped into mind. Sorry! ;) Recent installation of an engine monitor by a friend was quick and simple, with all of the electronics to do signal conditioning etc mounted forward of the firewall. The only wires running through...

    Auto-Dimming?

Please accept my apologies in advance of what likely will be a silly question... I was at OSH but had a hard time elbowing my way to the front of the crowd to get "touchy-feely" experience with the two demo units on display there. I was unable to ascertain whether or not the new units will...

    Information Request: Autopilot Interface Pictures

Dear Dynon Support, In times gone by, when a new feature was going to be released you would kindly post here a few pics of what the screen would look like with that new feature enabled. I realize the autopilot is a very new feature, and its enabling software is still very much in Beta mode...

    DSAB wiring and AP

JR - this info is what I've gleaned from other posts in this discussion forum, as well as posts made by DynonSupport on a Vans Air Force forum. Obviously I'm not DynonSupport so I'm sure they'll step in and correct any errors I would make. :o Servo wiring... 4 wires in total. 2 wires for...

Autopilot .... cat's out of the bag now

For any and all seeking additional information/discussion on this topic, the fine folks at Dynon have been very actively participating in the forum over at Van's AirForce. http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=28172

    External Battery on D100

Jon, I think nobody's replied to this question because they may have got stuck on the "external battery" description. If you're asking about charging the internal battery, this happens during normal operation while the EFIS is powered on through normal power, not the bckup power.

    Remote Compass Angle

I did mine initially with a very small mechanical inclinometer, a 4' spirit level, a carpenters square and a tape measure. Then I went to a store that supplies machine shop tools and purchased a small digital inclinometer and that made double-checking the installatin a breeze. I still needed...

Autopilot .... cat's out of the bag now

I've been waiting a long time to see what wonders Dynon had in its autopilot goody bag. Have to say I'm impressed with what I've read so far. And excited. Since I just blew a big part of my annual toy budget on a new 406MHz ELT and a new permanent magnet alternator it doesn't look like my...

    D100 on PA-28 140?

I think most folks are holding back from responding to this post because it's one that has some very grey areas. The Dynon will undoubtedly work well in a Cherokee 140, and with no real special adaptations. If it will work in a homebuilt it will work in a certified airplane. What most folks...

How long before the autopilot is ready??

An autopilot is the most prominent item on my "to do" list for the airplane. With the D-100 already installed, plus a solid suite of steam gauges as backups, I'm essentially placing all my autopilot eggs in Dynon's basket. I love the feature/value/performance compromise that's represented by...

GARMIN GTX 320A and Encoder converter

Installing the serial-to-gray-code convertor can be a little confusing, so I would suggest the following checks be done. 1) EFIS Pin 13 connects to GREEN wire from convertor 2) EFIS Pin 21 connects to BLACK wire from convertor (note green and black wires are in a single heat shrink covering at...

    June download

To Werner, Thomas et al, Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question concerning the new versus old display formats. I have to say that I'm anxiously awaiting the new firmware load to see what it will bring to my cockpit. One thing is a certainty, flying behind an EFIS gives the pilot...

    June download

Question to Werner... As a beta tester who has obviously now flown both the "old" and "new" efis screen formats, how would you say one format compares against the other? I know I'm asking for one person's opinion here, and accept that's what I'll get, just an opinion. But I'm curious to know...

    Horizontal faceplate for HS34

Mel - thanks for your feedback. Like all opinions, it's uniquely yours. I don't share it, but who cares? Bottom line is that Dynon has designed a "glue box" like the HS34 without giving due consideration to the fact that it's coming to market many many months after the unit to which it...

    Horizontal faceplate for HS34

Dear Dynon Support, A horizontal version of the HS34 is definitely required - I have NO vertically-oriented mounting space available in my panel. Just as an aside, there are several options available to make the horizontal/vertical changeover very easy. Most intercoms allow for either...

    HSI 34 EXPANSION MODULE

As a guy who's shop floor still contains the swarf from cutting a new instrument panel to accommodate the EFIS-D100, I'm very curious to know about the ability of the HS34 to be oriented in either vertical or horizontal modes (I only have space left for a horizontal installation ;) ) Also...
