Interesting. Thanks for the replies. I checked the internal battery voltage and the unit said 0V. I'll take the unit out and check the connections. It is only just over a year old so I'd be surprised if it had died. Thanks for the offer - I will get in contact if I need the battery tested.

I have a Dynon EFIS D6 with the backup battery installed. If I kill the master switch with the unit powered up, I don't get the 30 second battery backup warning screen. Shouldn't the unit tell me it has lost power and tell me to press a button to keep it powered up when I kill the master...
