I have a Dynon EFIS D6 with the backup battery installed. If I kill the master switch with the unit powered up, I don't get the 30 second battery backup warning screen.

Shouldn't the unit tell me it has lost power and tell me to press a button to keep it powered up when I kill the master switch? Is there something special I should've done to the wiring when installing a unit with the backup battery?

In an EFIS-D6, if the backup battery is installed and working, then yes, removing master power should result in the D6 counting down from 30 seconds and turning itself off. During the 30 seconds, there will be a button that will display to keep the unit running on battery.

If you'd like the battery tested at Dynon, please contact our Tech Support - support AT dynonavionics dot com or 425-402-0433.

You can also bring up the voltmeter on the EFIS main screen as an info item, and the "I" should be 13-17V if the battery is present, and charged.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. I checked the internal battery voltage and the unit said 0V. I'll take the unit out and check the connections. It is only just over a year old so I'd be surprised if it had died. Thanks for the offer - I will get in contact if I need the battery tested.
